why retreat?

John Dobree Pascoe
as a teenager i was asked to help with fundraising for health camps in new zealand. established in 1918 as a response to tuberculosis outbreaks, camps provided children with "sun, rest, fresh air, exercise, and nutritious meals." inspired by this introduction to health camps, i had a vision to create a 'place with space' - a quiet place to rest and refresh - which is now a reality through our Tekapo Wellness retreats. while tuberculosis is no longer a significant threat to new zealanders, there are different stresses and pressures on our health. the benefits of sun, rest, fresh air, exercise, and nutritious meals are just as important for us now as they were one hundred years ago!
